Time Off
At Lyquix, we believe that taking time off is essential for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, boosting productivity, and ensuring overall well-being.
8/8/8
8 hours for work, 8 hours for life, 8 hours of sleep. That's a fair formula. It's not work/life balance, it's work/life/sleep balance. A lack of sleep isn't a badge of honor, it's a bad idea.
The Importance of Taking Time Off
Preventing Burnout: Regular time off is crucial for preventing burnout and maintaining both mental and physical health. We encourage you to take your time off and enjoy a break from work to recharge.
Supporting Work-Life Balance: At Lyquix, we value work-life balance and support our employees in taking the time they need to relax and spend time with family and friends. Taking time off is not just allowed—it's encouraged as part of a healthy work culture.
Holidays
For team members in the US
Lyquix is closed on the following U.S. holidays:
- New Year's Day (January 1)
- Presidents' Day (Third Monday in February)
- Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)
- Independence Day (July 4)
- Labor Day (First Monday in September)
- Thanksgiving Day (Fourth Thursday in November)
- The Day After Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day (December 25)
Additional Closed Days: While not official holidays, Lyquix may close on additional days around some holidays, such as a half day on the Friday before Labor Day, or when a holiday falls on a weekend. These closings will be communicated to the team ahead of time.
For team members outside the US
Team members in other countries are allowed to observe all holidays mandated by law in their country of residence. If there are less than 10 legally mandated holidays, each team member may select additional holidays to observe, bringing the total to a maximum of 10. Team members are expected to communicate with their managers about upcoming holidays they plan to observe, just as they would for any other time off.
Paid Time Off
Only for salaried team members
Accrual: PTO is accrued based on your length of service and position within the company. Details on accrual rates and maximum carryover limits are provided in your employment contract and this handbook.
Usage: PTO can be used for vacations, personal days, or any other reason you need time away from work. Please submit your PTO request as far in advance as possible.
Sick Days: Sick days don't count towards your accrued PTO. When you're sick, please notify your manager as soon as possible, including an estimate of how long you expect to be out. Lyquix provides flexibility around sick days to help team members prioritize their health without feeling pressured or limited. However, if you are out sick for more than 3 consecutive workdays, you must provide a note from a healthcare provider, and if you are out sick for more than 5 consecutive workdays, you must file for short-term disability. Additionally, if frequency or number of continuous sick days begin to impact productivity, deadlines, work quality, or team dynamics, your manager may check in with you to discuss the situation and explore potential accommodations or adjustments.
Day of Service: You can take one day off every year to volunteer for a charitable or community organization of your choice. Days of Service do not count towards your accrued PTO days. Unused days cannot be rolled over to the next year, and Lyquix does not pay for unused days when you leave Lyquix.
Unused PTO: Lyquix encourages all team members to use their PTO to rest and recharge. Please note that there are limits to the amount of unused PTO that can be carried over to the next year.
Please Note
This page is only a summary of PTO-related policies. Please refer to the PTO Policies for full details regarding Paid Time Off.
Personal Matters
We understand that personal matters, such as a doctor's appointment or attending to a family issue, sometimes require you to be away for a few hours. Whenever possible, please schedule personal matters outside work hours. When that's not an option, you are encouraged to shift your work hours accordingly. Be sure to communicate your plans to your manager and team.
Requesting Time Off
Planned Time Off: For planned time off, please submit your request to your manager with as much notice as possible. This helps with project planning and ensures adequate team coverage.
Emergency Time Off: If you need to take time off unexpectedly due to illness or a family emergency, notify your manager as soon as possible. We understand that emergencies happen, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
